Alpinist Colin Haley, and partner Alex Honnold, recently completed the Torre Traverse in Patagonia in a record breaking time of 20 hours and 40 minutes. To achieve such an unbelievably quick time, the duo needed the best and lightest equipment on the market. They chose to use the new La Sportiva Trango ICE Cube; a super lightweight, highly tecnical mountaineering boot.

We were lucky enough to talk to Colin about what exactly makes this boot so unique:
"What makes the Trango ICE Cube special is that it is a very lightweight boot that accepts fully step-in ("automatic") crampons, and has a sole stiff enough for sustained front-pointing on hard ice. Most boots up to climbing real ice are much heavier. This makes the Trango ICE Cube perfect for summertime climbing on high alpine terrain. It particularly excels on routes that involve both rock climbing and ice climbing, because these boots are light in the backpack when you change into rock shoes." - Colin Haley
