Project Kugy | First Descent Makes For An Intense Moment of Speed Riding

Speed riding is one of these sports, where the actual activity, namely flying down a mountain with a ridiculously small wing while sporadically keeping contact with the ground with your skis, is the shortest part of the experience. However, while scoping the line, hiking up the mountain and observing the turbulences take most of the time of such an adventure, finally flying down the chosen path offers the most condensed and intensive experience. In March 2015 Dominik Lindebner and Stefan Stockinger fly down the spectacular Kugy Couloir in the Julian Alps in Slovenia. More than 125 years after Julius Kugy was the first to ascend the narrow gully, Dominik and Stefan were the first to descend it with speed riding wings.
