The fourth round of the IFSC Lead World Cup took place in Imst, Austria over the weekend and the big news was that after finishing 9th, 27th and 8th, Adam Ondra finally won an event. Sean McColl continued his consistent season in both the lead and boulder competitions by claiming second and local boy Jakob Schubert was third.
Meanwhile over in the women’s event, Magdalena Rock took the win in front of her home crowd, having finished as runner up in all 3 events before Imst this season. She was closely followed by the ever-dangerous Jain Kim in second and fellow Austrian Jessica Pilz in third.
All this has meant that Jakob Schubert remains first in the mens’ overall standings, with Sean McColl not far behind and Frenchman Romain Desgranges holding on to third. Adam Ondra is sneaking up the rankings though and is now in 6th place, with 4 events still to come.
Despite her second place in Imst, Jain Kim holds on to first place overall in the womens’ competition, but Magdalena Rock is now just 40 points behind in second, with Anak Verhoeven a further 100 points back in third.
The next round of the competition takes place in Mokpo, Korea on the second week of October so stay tuned and we’ll bring you all the results.
