After the big names dominated last week’s women's event, things got a shake up this time with 17 year-old Megan Mascarenas taking the win. Last year’s overall World Cup Champion Akiyo Noguchi came in second and Shauna Coxsey took what is probably a very welcome bronze after a spell out with injury. As yet, Megan doesn’t compete in every World Cup event but she is clearly going to be a big threat if and when she starts doing so. The winner in Toronto, Anna Stohr came in fifth and that’s enough to give her second in the overall standings behind Akiyo Noguchi who has taken silver in both events so far this year. Shauna Coxsey rounds up the top three in the overall rankings. Toronto saw some very surprising results in the men’s event and although Vail felt slightly more like business as usual, there were still a few shocks, with 18 year-old Nathan Coleman once again claiming second place as he did in Toronto, and thereby taking the lead in the overall standings. Jan Hojer, after the disappointment of not even making the semis in Canada, was on hugely improved form and won the event, with Adam Ondra in third for the second week running, whilst Dmitri Sharafudtinov and Sean McColl took fourth and fifth respectively. This leaves Nathan leading the overall standings, with Adam Ondra looking ominously close in second and last year’s winner Jan Hojer up to fourth, just behind Alban Levier of France. The next round is in China in 2 weeks time so stay tuned for all the action and reaction from there. Incredible World Cup Success For Incredibly Young US Climbers | EpicTV Climbing Daily, Ep. 513
