Rule 40 of the Olympics states that no individual sponsors can be represented on their athletes during the games. This is some 1984 Big Brother sh*t. Well, nearly.
Rule 40 is basically a blackout by the IOC whereby athletes can't even THANK the people who have supported them all the way on the road to the Olympics.
They CAN use online mediums to speak but can't mention anything about who they are sponsored by. So every four years, athletes have to forget about those who have supported them and instead praise major sponsors McDonalds, or Sprint or something...
If you ask me it's just plain stupid. But what do you think?
