Epic fact no. 629: 'Kanpai' is the word that Japanese use when they make a toast. It literally means 'drink the cup dry'. What that has to do with snowboarding in Japan we're not sure, except to say that there is usually a bit of toasting in between pow sessions this good.
While Europe was starving for snow, long-time friends Mathieu Crepel, Sylvain Bourbousson, and Morgan Le Faucheur went powder hunting in Japan. Instead of heading to the north island of Hokkaido like most international riders, they slunk around some of the lesser-known mountains on the main island of Honshu and scored big. We'll drink to that.
