Edelrid have identified a prime area to improve on safety when sport climbing; clipping the anchor chain. When most people clip into an anchor to thread the lower-off or belay a partner up to the top of the pitch, they use a standard static sling. While this is fine when maintained in a loaded position, it is a potential point of failure if the climber were to fall. To eliminate the risk of this happening, Edelrid have developed the Absorber Sling which will reduce the impact on your harness, the anchor and the sling itself in the event of a fall. While we definitely admire the benefits the Absorber Sling offers in terms of safety we're still unsure how likely it is to catch on given that it is both being bulkier and heavier than a simple tape, not to mention that it places the user further away from the anchor when hanging, making it harder for them to thread the lower-off.
