Edelrid are continuing their development of top-end harnesses and will now be offering the Huascaran which is aimed at the weight conscious ski tourer or alpinist. With a traditional 1 buckle, BOD Style design, which makes it easy to take off when wearing Crampons or skis, and at a mere 220g this is perfect for those who need a harness for glacial travel or fast and light alpine ascents. The Split Webbing design maximises breathability by essentially removing all unnecessary material from the waist belt and Leg loops. This could obviously come at the cost of the user’s comfort and Edelrid have attempted to combat this by spreading the load as much as possible across all areas of the harness.
Perhaps the most unique thing about The Huascaran however is that it’s the first EVER Bluesign approved harness which means that the process of producing the Huascaran meets strict requirements in terms of safety AND environmental impact. With environmental responsibility a permanently hot-topic amongst the climbing community, we’re psyched to see a brand facing up to the challenge of producing more eco-friendly products.
