With the explosion in the popularity of climbing walls and more new climbers than ever getting into the sport at the gym, Five Ten have designed a shoe that is perfect as a rental model. The Five Ten Stonemaster Rental is a similar beginner's design to the Five Ten Stonemaster with a less asymmetric shape and flatter rand than other shoes. The most striking feature of this shoe however is the rubber which, unlike conventional climbing shoes, comes in some very striking colours. Five Ten have considered the needs of climbing walls when it comes to rental shoes and have used their hardest wearing rubber, Stealth Marathon. This rubber can be made into a one-piece moulded outsole and that's exactly what Five Ten have done with it on the Stonemaster Rental. This has allowed them to make the rubber thicker at common wearing points and remove the risk of delamination from beginners dragging their feet on the wall. The non-marking rubber also means that when this happens, (as it inevitably will), climbing gyms won't be left with horrible black streaks all over their walls. Another big benefit to both the climbing wall and the users are that these shoes have a washable canvas upper meaning that as soon as they start to smell, they can be washed and returned to pristine condition for the next customer.
