Our Gear Geeks demoed this board at the Snow Avant Premiere board test in La Clusaz and those who tried it were in agreement, it was probably the best one there. In true Mervin Manufacturing experiMENTAL fashion this board has a trapezoidal shape meaning a tighter heel sidecut radius and longer toeside radius. As it is a directional board, it is the only board in the world which comes in both regular and goofy variations. Since most snowboarders struggle with heelside turns, this generally makes it easier to carve and get pressure onto your heels. The wood in the core makes it softer on the heelside, so again, you have an easier time controlling it and most of the pop comes from your toes. If you never need to go switch, it’s an absolute monster and should be on anyone’s shortlist if they are looking for an all mountain directional cruiser. Priced at 649€.
