Summer in the Alps: the snow melts, the valleys blossom, retirees come to enjoy the scenery, and all the adrenaline junkies who were skiing and snowboarding during the winter start twiddling their thumbs. For many years the only option for anyone who stayed in town was to take up mountaineering, but the advent of the wingsuit has provided a second outlet for all those in need of a fix. Not content to choose between the two, master of the mountains Aurélien Chatard combines his passions for alpinism and flying in this video as he and his friends hike in to some of the most difficult-to-reach cliffs, then go diving off them. Over the course of one summer Aurélien and co. logged nearly 100 wingsuit flights. Some started from famous landmarks like the gondola station for the Aiguille du Midi, but others took advantage of more secluded locales that even Aurélien is not willing to discuss. If you grab a map and keep a close eye on the topography as he zooms over it, you might figure it out for yourself.
