Chris Sharma will join Tommy Caldwell, Kevin Jorgeson, and Jonathan Siegrist for this fall's attempts on the Dawn Wall, a multi-year project to create the world's hardest big-wall free climb. The team will begin working on the Dawn Wall this week, unless the federal government shutdown continues to prevent climbers from entering Yosemite National Park. The Dawn Wall is the steepest and blankest free lines yet attempted on El Capitan in Yosemite Valley, weaving in and out of the classic aid route Mescalito. Even though Sharma does not have a huge amount of experience on the granite of Yosemite, he will bring some obvious strengths to the project, last spring he made the second ascent of what is thought to be the hardest sport climbing route in the world, La Dura Dura.
