Step 2 - Chalk Outline

Now that the hold has had the worst of the water removed you can start to apply some chalk. Dip the sock into your bag of loose chalk, (it should be slightly damp by this point which will help pick up more chalk), and apply it to the hold. Make sure to cover the whole area of the hold with the chalk.

Leave the chalk covering the hold for around 5 minutes. By this point, the chalk will have absorbed a lot of the moisture from the damp hold. Brush off the damp chalk and inspect the results.
