Hey, so in terms of the laptop it doesn't specifically say, what it does say is that when fully packed it has the dimensions : “55 x 30 x 30 cm fully stuffed” The 13inch laptop's width is 24and a half centimetres so you should be able to fit one of them in there.
With regards to putting gear in your cabin bag, its fine, it just may get checked a bit more thoroughly when put through security, hope that helps :)

Please take a look at e.g. Stormfront™ Roll Top Pack 30L roll-top backpack, which 100% leak and waterproof: https://shop.epictv.com/en/backpacks-rope-bags/patagonia/stormfront%E2%84%A2-roll-top-pack-30l
Please take a look at Camp Roxback crag bag, which is available e.g on EpicTV Shop: https://shop.epictv.com/en/backpacks-rope-bags/camp/roxback-2015 It has a three-layer PU coating so it's durable and protected from the elements
I kind of like more a proper rope bag to carry my rope, quickdraws, shoes etc. It's horrible to drag your stuff into the crag, if you can't park your van next to crag....
Hi Camella,
The simple answer is when the weight of your bag becomes too much for you to climb with. Haul bags are usually only used on multi-day rock climbs where the food, water and sleeping apparatus, along with all your climbing gear accumulates to more than you could feasibly climb with.
Sometimes on difficult multi pitches routes, where you wont be bringing sleeping equipment etc., you may also want to take a haul bag so that you can climb more naturally.
Hope that helps,
Dave
Hi Louise,
Although the North Face Base Camp Duffel bags are extremely robust and make great general use bags, they are not suitable for use as haul bags. There are too many straps to get caught on the way up, and the bag is not designed to be hauled up a rock face from a single point. A dedicated haul bag such as the Metolius Half Dome is a much better option.
Hope that helps,
Dave.
