It is Dragon knot (dračí smyčka). There could be another modification to tie one more loop through the uper harnes loop and into a dragon loop to stabilize rope with knot in better position then tie double fishermans. IAm using this knot.
Hi Jamey,
I'm afraid that the answer depends on a number of factors, from how seriously you're taking it to the type of problems you're likely to be climbing.
Some competitors (particularly at the top level) will take multiple pairs of shoes into an event so that they can change them depending on the style of the problem.... (more)
My son started around age 3. Think it depends on the child and it should always just be fun. As there is gear for all these days he has a helmet for outdoors and a full harness(think just a hip harness is still to risky) and even shoes (totaly cute... ehem cool ;). The great thing here in Germeny is that there are indoor climbing halls that have complete areas for children. He's 4 now and still having fun.
No Alyse,
in case of emergency one should not add more risk, it's better to leave more gears in that case.
But yes, I have abbed on a single protection...

Saying that, there are two key things which do add to the spiciness of climbing north faces in the northern hemisphere. The main challenge is the cold; North Faces get very little to no sun at all making them disproportionally colder than surrounding mountains.... (more)
Hell No it is NEVER safe to tie into your gear loops. If ever unsure, check the manufacturers recommendations and safety guidelines that come with the harness.
